Teaching traumatized children
Kiet teaches at Het Palet, a primary school in the southern Dutch of Brabant. Her students are new to the area. Having fled from war-torn Syria, Iraq and Eritrea, and traumatized by their harrowing experiences, Kiet’s lessons offer her students a chance to break free from their past, and to play and learn in peace. The well-received documentary by Dutch-German couple Peter Lataster and Petra Lataster-Czisch is critically acclaimed for its pedagogical philosophy, but is above all fun and deeply touching.
