Festival dedicated to the double bass
The Dutch Double Bass Festival is the one and only double bass festival of the Netherlands and features genre-defying performances by more than fifteen international live acts. This Saturday you definitely shouldn’t miss: Thomas Pol, James Oesi and Omer Avital Qantar. From an early age, Pol’s musical talents have been recognised by numerous foundations. He has emerged as a nationally and internationally acclaimed talent and will present a unique concert in the company of Tony Roe and Jamie Peet especially for the festival. Artistic director of the festival, James Oesi, has formed a special group with violinist Diamanda Dramm, pianist Helena Basilova and clarinetist David Kweksilver. Expect a wealth of musical influences spanning from South American jazz to Beethoven. Omer Avital Qantar’s energetic performances call to mind the legendary likes of Charles Mingus, while his music proudly embraces his half-Arabic, half-Jewish roots.
