Comedy and drama unite in this coming-of-age film
Lady Bird is a coming-of-age film written and directed by Greta Gerwig. The film is set in 2002, the year in which Christine ‘Lady Bird’ McPherson goes off to college and aims to go to a prestigious university in a big city, one that her parents simply cannot afford. As a result, her relationship with her mother, which was already fraught, is further strained.
Lady Bird is screened as part of Female Frame, a film programme comprising twenty iconic films about female characters by female directors. Stretching from 14 April to 7 May a number of Female Frame films have been included in the We Are Public programme. Keep an eye on our website for exact dates and times.
