Music is movement, I already knew that. But still I am really looking forward to this fusion of intense physical choreography by Astrid Boons, the spatial electronic compositions by her composer Miguelángel Clerc Parada and the acoustic qualities by the Saxofoon Contet.
Selected by: Ben Terwel, Music curator

During last year’s Festival Classique, the Nederlands Saxofoon Octet showcased an acclaimed, experimental performance that tested the influence of movement on music, shifting and altering the spatial arrangement of the musicians as they performed. For this year’s festival, they return with a second iteration of the project that sees them link up with talented up-and-coming choreographer and Piket Kunstprijs winner Astrid Boons as well as composer and sound artist Miguelángel Clerc Parada, who frequently combines spatial electronic music with conceptual dance.

Since 2006, Festival Classique has sought out the boundaries of classical music, and this event is part of their Kweekvijver coaching programme. At 13:00 you can attend the graduation concert of violinist Laura Lunansky, who channels her love for improvisation and theatre, while at 17:15 you can catch neo-fanfare 9×13’s Les Fauves, a theatre performance without words that recounting adventures in a hotel lobby.
