The debut of the young writer Édouard Louis was breathtaking for me and the theatricality of its characters clearly showed. Director Eline Arbo made an acclaimed theatrical adaptation of this novel which is a feast for the eyes, very musical and consists of a cast of actors that - deservedly - got nominated for the Louis d'Or.

Daniël Kieft
Theatre curator
Daniël Kieft (1981) is the head of programming and curator of theatre at We Are Public. He studied theatre in Amsterdam, after which he started his studies in Art, Culture and Media in Groningen. He did an internship with The Wooster Group theatre group in New York, and later on worked at the Holland Festival, Festival Hongerige Wolf and the International Theatre Amsterdam. His We Are Public tasks involve visiting many festivals, museums and stages, searching for young, surprising, interesting or shocking artists and artworks, no matter how underground or obscure they might seem.
