Manipulated dialogues
The two Icelandic choreographers Inga Huld Hákonardóttir and Rosa Ómarsdóttir love to play the game of manipulating the dialogue between what we hear and see. They take simple actions and transform them into humorous or shocking scenarios. In The Valley the two dancers cannot be distinguished. Their matching white jogging pants and grey tops make them look like identical twins. During the performance the stage becomes a place for doppelgangers where the dancers can come together and replicate again. You lose track of what you witness to the point where you can no longer tell where one begins and the other ends. The valley is a boundless place where the distinction between men and machine vanishes..
The Julidans Dance Festival showcases dance makers who are about to break (internationally). The festival is known for its cross-border programming, both literally and figuratively. Julidans will take place between 4 and 15 July at eight locations in Amsterdam. Six of the programs are included in the We Are Public offer.
