About La Isla Bonita
The five women that form La Isla Bonita create over-the-top theatre spectacles. Based on current trends, the group examines serious societal issues. Their debut La Isla Bonita about rhythmic gymnastics and the boat refugee crisis received nothing but praise. Last year, they were shining bright on the We Are Public programme with their show De Managers, a mix of hobby horse riding and toxic masculinity in business environments.
Until recently, La Isla Bonita was working on a dark and erotic costume drama: Odette, Kater en de Lul. The show’s premiere has been postponed, but in the meantime the collective is staying busy with photography and film endeavours. For instance, their photography series about the (in)visibility of the performer in quarantine.
