A samurai hitman
Forest Whitakers plays Ghost Dog, a hitman in the ranks of the American mob who sworn himself to the sacred vows of the samurai and scriptures of 18th century Japanese writer Yamamoto Tsunemoto. This seemingly atypical gangster flick by Jim Jarmusch is heavily indebted to Jean-Pierre Melville’s Nouvelle Vague-classic, Le Samouraï, and Japanese cult film, Branded to Kill. The film is accompanied by a powerful soundtrack courtesy of Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA.
Het Nutshuis’s beautiful walled garden plays host to four open air screenings this month. In each, music plays a critical role and so they’ve also seen fit to open each evening with a live performance. All in all, the perfect summer evening!
Before the movie, at 19:00, Rotterdam based rapper Fabs Pi will treat you to his contemplating realization rhymes.
