Stroom offers a unique afternoon discussion about a most urgent theme. With his Institute of Human Obsolescence, artist and activist Manuel Beltrán researches a radical new approach to labor, as humans are slowly becoming obsolete in the age of artificial intelligence. Together with fellow artist and hacker Luis Rodil-Fernández, he will discuss a proposal for a modern workers union. A revolutionary idea to protect the rights of those he calls the data-workers: everyone who unknowingly generates data when interacting with online platforms. He finds it is vital that this new form of labor is to be fairly compensated, and the money generated does not solely belong to the big companies like Facebook and Google anymore.
