The Christmas Oratorio
The Bachkoor Holland and Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra ring in the Christmastide a few weeks early with their performance of J.S. Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium at the Nieuwe Kerk in Delft. The oratorio, which is composed of six cantatas and based on the gospels of Lucas and Matteüs, is to Christmas what the Mattheüs Passion is to Easter. The Bachkoor Holland is one of the few choirs who perform the work in its entirety and are widely acclaimed for their dedication to the original.
