What is We Are Public?
We Are Public is a membership for cultural adventurers
We believe art and culture deserves a bigger audience. More support and more revenue. And we are going to make that happen. Together, with our own money.
We Are Public is simple. Become a member by contributing €17 a month. See it as an investment in art and culture, whilst being able to discover the best concerts, exhibitions, performances and films in Utrecht. But your membership is also valid in 10 other cities in The Netherland. A.o. Amsterdam, Den Haag, Haarlem, Leiden and Den Bosch
We help you find your way. We select the best events and grant you free access. Unlimited access. With your We Are Public pass. We pay the creatives for your visit. That way, your money goes straight to the artists and cultural organisations, and together we invest in art and culture.
Join now! We Are Public is coming to Utrecht, but only if we find 1500 Art Optimists before 1 March 2019. Join us!
What type of organisation is We Are Public? We Are Public is an initiative of De Nieuwe Cultuur Stichting. We are a cultural ANBI, which means we are fully committed to our social mission and do not focus on profit.
Who are the brains behind We Are Public? We Are Public is a concept thought up by Bas Morsch and Leon Caren. Having set up the independent music platform Subbacultcha together, they now aspire to bridge and connect the cultural sector with We Are Public.
Who is in charge of the We Are Public programme? Our independent curators: a team of experts spanning Utrecht’s diverse cultural realms. From March 2019 onwards, they’ll get a prominent place on our website.
If I sign up now, when will I receive my We Are Public membership card? Once you sign up, you will immediately receive an email with a barcode that grants you access to all We Are Public events. Your membership card will be delivered within six working days.
Can I gift a We Are Public membership? Not at the moment. But do motivate and invite your friends and family to join us via www.wearepublic.nl/utrecht
How does the membership card work? Can I reserve tickets? For most We Are Public events you can collect a ticket at the box office on the day of the event. Remember to show your membership card. Purchasing or reserving tickets online will be possible for some events. Getting your hands on a ticket differs per event and per partner. Find the relevant ticket information by clicking on the button ‘How do I get a ticket?’.
Where can I find the entire selection of events? Close this pop-up and scroll up.
What happens when a performance is sold out? We expect that members can access We Are Public events without any difficulty. However, there’s always a chance that a performance will sell out which means We Are Public members will no longer be able to get in. Fortunately, there are at least 30 other events on a monthly basis that you can access with your pass. There will always be another fantastic concert, film screening or performance on the same night. If we know in advance that a programme is sold out, we’ll announce it on our website. So make sure to check the website before heading out to get a ticket.
How does direct debit (automatic withdrawal) work? If we find 1500 Art Optimists in Utrecht, then you’ll start paying for your membership on 1 March 2019. The We Are Public membership costs €17 per month. If the withdrawal doesn’t succeed the first time, we will try to withdraw two payments in one go. If the payment fails on two occasions, we will pause your membership until we have received the overdue payment.
Cancelling your We Are Public membership The minimum duration of a membership is three full calendar months from the moment you start paying for the membership. After these three months, you can cancel at any time The cancellation deadline for the following month is on the 16th of each month. If you cancel after the 16th you will still be a member during the following month; meaning we will withdraw €17 from your account for that particular month. If you cancel your membership before the 16th, your membership will stay valid until the end of that month. Click here to change or cancel your membership
Is the membership card strictly for personal use? Yes, the membership card is personal and non-transferable. Only the person named on the card can use it.
Can someone tag along using my membership? It’s not possible to get a discount for two with your membership. Encourage your friends to join We Are Public so you can venture together, and we can get a step closer to reaching our goal of 1500 art optimists in utrecht.
I’ve lost my membership card If you’ve lost, damaged or had your membership card stolen, let us know as soon as possible by sending an email to email@example.com.
